Presentation and Panel Discussion: Social Emotional Learning in Classrooms Across America

Tuesday November 3, Social Emotional Learning in classrooms Across America
The 2015 PDK/Gallup Poll found that U.S. adults rank student engagement and hopefulness for their children's future as far more important measures of a school's effectiveness than standardized test results. Research from the Poll also shows that students with high Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and strong Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills excel in the classroom and later in life.

At this event, leaders and scientists from Gallup, PDK and the education field will give thoughtful presentations and host dynamic conversations about applying SEL in the classroom, as well as methods - other than standardized testing - for measuring student success. Confirmed presenters and panel discussion participants include:

Tim Shriver, Chairman, Special Olympics and Author, Fully Alive
Shane Lopez, Senior Scientist, Gallup and Author, Making Hope Happen
Jessica Lahey, Author, The Gift of Failure
Joshua Starr, CEO, PDK Intl.
Daniel Cardinali, CEO, Communities in Schools
Diego Uriburu, CEO, Identity

To be held from 8 AM to NOON at The Gallup Building, 901 F Streeet, NW, Washington, DC (entrance on 9th Street near Gallery Place Metro)
